Labor & Advocacy

The scariest thing in the world to the Republicans is when Democrats and the community work together.

The recent Federal Government shutdown was a masterclass in that alliance winning major victories: Democrats held the line, refusing to give the President his ridiculous border wall, and labor organized to shut down the airports and force him to fold.

These are the kinds of victories we can achieve when we coordinate closely with our friends and allies in the labor unions and community advocacy groups.

As Chair, I will meet regularly with representatives of our unions, and I will coordinate messaging, strategy, and advocacy. I will make sure that we’re up-to-date on the latest policy priorities from our community advocates—from LGBT groups to environmental advocates to immigration rights activists—and that we can work to communicate these goals to our members and elected officials.
